Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains changes in upgrades, downgrades, conversion accounts, account merges, in order for billing to be appropriate works closely with Business Office for Medicare and Medicaid "crunch" monthly billing periods.

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED preferred

One (1) year of related customer service experience.

Medical terminology preferred

Bilingual - English/Spanish.

Insurance Verification Knowledge

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERICIENCE:

High degree of competency/experience in general.

Must be able to respond to patient needs by interpreting facial expressions and/or verbal communications.

Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to interact compassionately and appropriately with the patients families.

Good communication and organizational skills.

Reasoning ability and good independent judgment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices

Provides admissions and intake services by conducting, screening and/or assessing patients.

Responds to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking health care or information health-related services

Interviews incoming patient or representative and enters information required for admission into computer.

Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.

Explains hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.

Escorts patient or arranges for escort to assigned room or ward.

Enters patient admitting information into computer and routes printed copy to designated department.

Obtains signed statement from patient to protect hospital's interests. May assign patient to room or ward.

Email Pre-Access IV group all pending accounts 3 day out

Email Pre-Access Management all account that need Administration Approvals

Email Patient collection and Payment arrangement letters at the end of work shift

Email all cancelled accounts list at the end of work shift

Create Payment arrangements letters for patients

Run Estimator for patients responsibilities

Create short registration by phone for all email or text messages received

Complete MSP Questionnaire at time of pre-registration

Directs medical record requests appropriately. Reviews information requests to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable federal and state regulations.

May compile data for occupancy and census records.

May receive payments on account.

Work on Daily Deposit Summary Sheet

B.Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C.Occupational Exposure:This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
