Founded in 1982, Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH) , an

medical, surgical, and specialty services, including: 24-hour
emergency room Level III Trauma Center Comprehensive cardiovascular
care The only pediatric heart program in the Valley 30-bed Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Ri o Grande Regional Hospital is
currently looking for a Director (RN) - Trauma Services.
Responsibilities: Coordination of trauma care, with the Trauma
Medical Director (TMD), Administration, Department Directors and
staff, from ED admission through operative intervention(s), ICU
care, stabilization, rehabilitation care, and discharge. Rounds on
trauma patients and initiates the quality review while patient is
still in the hospital, if applicable. Reviews trauma transfers
within seven days from date of service. Coordinates
Multi-disciplinary Trauma Committee with the Trauma Medical
Director and actively oversees the PI program through loop closure.
Maintains day to day responsibility for process and performance
improvement activities as they relate to nursing and ancillary
personnel. Prepares routine monthly statistics, as well as,
statistical reports relating to current issues/inquiries. Prepares
material for Trauma Committee in timely and professional manner.
Provides ED nurses with feedback regarding their care and
documentation of the trauma patient. Provides nursing and ancillary
department staff feedback regarding their care and documentation of
the trauma patient. Maintains readiness for trauma re-designation.
Provides follow-up information to referring hospitals Oversees the
Trauma Registrar and/or functions as the Trauma Registrar within
the guidelines established by the Texas Trauma Registry. Ensures
all data is appropriately entered and transmitted Attends at least
two Texas Trauma Director’s Forum in Austin on an annual basis
Participates in required continuing education and maintains a
minimum of 16 CEU’s of trauma related education on an annual basis.
Attends TRAC Meetings quarterly as well as TRAC Committee meetings
according to specified TRAC attendance by-laws. Maintains a minimum
of 4 CEU’s related to Trauma Registry on an annual basis, if
applicable. Assists with the Orientation and Continuing Education
for nursing staff who care for trauma patients throughout the
facility ie:ED, ICU, OR, PACU, general wards, etc. Active
participation in a leadership role in the hospital, community and
regional emergency management (disaster) response committee(s).
Active participation and/or organization of community and TRAC
injury prevention and trauma related educational opportunities.
Participates and provides input in staff meetings as requested
Maintains departmental attendance standards as per hospital-wide
policy Maintains confidentiality. Efficient and effective in daily
performance, uses time management skills to be a productive member
of the department’s team. Follows through with tasks / problems and
gives necessary feedback. Promptly investigates and follows up on
unusual incidents and communicates with supervisors. Qualifications
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's
Degree preferred 2 years experience in Emergency Department and/or
Critical Care required Previous experience as a Trauma Nurse
Director preferred Current licensure as a registered nurse by the
State of Texas BLS, TNCC, ACLS, PALS and ENPC required TNCC
instructor certification preferred CEN preferred Notice Our
