Performs the primary function of a Trauma Registrar. Compiles and
maintains all information related the trauma patient. Inputs trauma
data to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as
required. Data analysis and data valididty of the trauma registry.
Abilty to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
to the Trauma Program Coordiantor. Assist with the preparation and
minutes of Trauma Service meetings. Participates n Quality
Improvement activities for the overall improvement of the care of
the trauma patient. This position summary contains the most
relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other
assignments as needed by the department or program..
* Working knowledge of PC to include software application for word
processing, spreadsheet and database is essential.
* Skill in mathematics and statistics.
* Skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal
* Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical, and trauma
* Experience in Trauma Registry/EMS Registry, review of medical
records, ICD-10 and E codes not significant for experience.
* Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS s Compliance
Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies
and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required
training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to
the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
* High School Diploma/GED
* Have upon hire or successfully complete the American Trauma
Society (ATS) Trauma Registry Course or the Texas Emergency, Trauma
and Acute Care Foundation (TETAF) Data Management Course and the
Assocation for the Advancment of Automitve Medicine (AAAM) Injury
Severity Scale Course or other equivalent course approved by the
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Trauma
Program Director within twelve (12) months of hire.
* Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) or received within
three years of employment
