General Statement of Job General Statement of Job The Applications Specialist assists in providing immediate information systems technical support on software applications including the college's enterprise resource planning system. Assists in day to day activities to monitor application performance, production scheduling, planning and implementation of software improvements. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Specific Duties and Responsibilities Assists in providing immediate information systems support services, including application support, production scheduling, and technical support on specified software applications. Participates in the design, development and implementation of information systems solutions. Develops programming scripts using SQL/PLSQL. Assists in scheduled maintenance cycles, performing system updates and other systems functions during off-peak hours such as evenings and weekends. Assists in troubleshooting and debugging existing applications. Coordinates and monitors scheduled processes, reviews job logs, and records results. Monitors system resources, such as disk space, memory utilization and CPU usage to ensure adequate resources are available. Assists with maintaining up-to-date internal documentation and processes as a result of application upgrades or changes. Records and reports statistical information on services provided. Maintains high level of communication with clients to achieve desired results. Responsible for providing a continuation of service delivery and continuous point of contact for service users and staff alike outside of normal working hours. Keeps abreast of trends and developments in technology. Travels throughout the college district, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. At least one (1) year of related work experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills. Proficiency working with Oracle 12c or later, SQL, Java, JavaScript, JSP, ******* 4.0+, Dynamic HTML, and Web Services. Familiarity in applications programming and design. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines. Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse, multi-cultural college population. Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College. Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical and professional manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
