General Statement of Job:
The Educational Technologies Specialist is responsible for the
operations and audio-visual events at assigned campus/campuses.
Supervises employees assigned to campus and develop work schedules
and assignments. Responsible for implementing Educational
Technologies procedures and maintenance, projects, delivery, and
security of equipment at all campus/campuses and special
events.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages Educational Technologies operations at all
campuses/center sites and special events.
- Ensures that equipment is properly maintained and reasonably
secured.
- Supervises employees assigned to campus and develop work
schedules and assignments for full-time and part-time employees.
- Recommends and implements approved security measures to protect
equipment from theft, loss or damage.
- Advises, consults, and provides services related to the design,
creation, and online delivery of digital media.
- Evaluates and recommends classroom technology purchases for
assigned campuses/center sites and special events.
- Provides technical recommendations.
- Produces and demonstrates educational technologies projects
utilizing feedback for continuous improvements.
- Serves as department liaison to campus administrators and
faculty.
- Collaborates with faculty to incorporate technology with
subject matter content in order to produce and improve student
engagement and learning.
- Collaborates with the ET Operations Manager and other
department personnel to design and install audiovisual systems.
- Develops and uses skills and expertise in appropriate design
programs.
- Works with ET Operations Manager to develop and implement
institutional effectiveness and strategic plans.
- Tests products for errors and assists implements design
changes, as needed.
- Assists with coordination of special events with South Texas
College departments, community organizations and business entities.
- Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Responsible for providing a continuation of service delivery
and continuous point of contact for service users and staff alike
outside of normal working hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelors Degree with two (2) years related experience required
or
- Associates Degree with four (4) years related experience
required, or
- Six (6) years of related experience required.
2. AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist preferred.
Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- All applicants are subject to a national criminal background
check under South Texas College policy.
- Security Sensitive position: In addition, subject to federal
background check.
- Must have a valid Texas drivers license and proof of liability
insurance.
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification
preferred.
