Job Description:
Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: A Licensed Vocational Nurse
(LVN) provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures. A
Licensed Vocational Nurse functions under the direction and
supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for interacting with
hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care,
concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the
resolutions. Responsible and accountable in maintaining performance
skills. May be necessary to work weekends, holidays, evenings,
nights, overtime, and/or on call/call back status. Demonstrates
Service Excellence standards at all times. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:1. Current LVN license in the State of Texas.2.
Familiar with basic nursing performance standards for all age
groups as outlined in the Texas Nurse Practice Act.3. Must
demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program
and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and
procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training
and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the
Compliance Officer.4. Preferred one year of full time or three
years of part time previous clinical experience.EDUCATION /
LICENSURE:1. Currently licensed as an LVN in the State of TX or
part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary LVN
license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the
permanent license.2. Must have and maintain current BLS
certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must
be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA for Healthcare
Provider's Program or American Red Cross) - please check all that
apply:.XBCLS/CPRMust be current upon hire and thereafterXACLSIf
required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain
within 12 months of hire, unless in Labor and Delivery or
Post-Partum where RN must obtain within six months of hire;nurse
with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;or
if hired with a current certification must keep current at all
timesPALS orENPCIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of
experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;nurse with over a year
of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;or if hired with a
current certification must keep current at all times NRPIf required
in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12
months of hire, unless in Labor and Deliver or Post-Partum where RN
must obtain within six months of hire,nurse with over a year of
experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;or if hired with a
current certification must keep current at all timesTNCC or
T-CAR(TCAR only for ICCU not ED)If required in unit, must have and
maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;or if

timesCPIIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of
experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a
year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;or if hired

required in unit, must obtain Satori Alternatives to Managing
Aggression (SAMA) certification within 90 days of starting unit
