Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:The Medical Staff Peer Review(RN) performs medical
record reviews to investigate the quality care of patients
delivered by physicians and Allied Health Professionals. Performs
medical staff reviews to determine whether accepted standards of
care have been met. These reviews may be concurrent or
retrospective and may include, but are not limited to, procedural
complications, mortality, morbidity, risk associated concerns,
medical errors, returns to surgery, quality complaints, "never
events", and any other reviews requested by any designated medical
staff department committee or STHS senior management. Investigate
professional or personal conduct or behavior of physicians or
Allied Health Professionals. Assist in researching medical staff
privileging criteria and present such research to appropriate
medical committee(s) and the credential's committee for approval.
Organize, prepare, schedule, and record minutes of the Medical
Staff Peer Review Committee. Assist the System Medical Staff
Services Manager and serves as their designee when requested.
Assist with conducting department staff meetings and educational
programs as identified. Assist with data presentation, staff
understanding aggregated data, and ensuring minutes/follow-up is
done in a timely manner. Communicates with physicians, staff,
administration, patient/family regarding quality issues.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:Requires that the individual have considerable
organizational skills and nursing clinical knowledge. Good
interpersonal relationship skills and able to deal with difficult
physicians, staff, administration.Must demonstrate commitment and
adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through
compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct,
attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected
compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.EDUCATION /
LICENSURE:Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of
Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary
RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the
permanent one. BSN preferredAble to travel to other STHS
