Phlebotomist II - Laboratory
Shift: Full Time Days

What you will do in this role:
- Accurately labels all blood tubes using correct barcode labels,
matches tests to correct colored tubes, and records collection
time/initial on all labeled specimens.
- Adheres to hospital attendance and tardiness policy.
Appropriately clocks in/out and returns from break and lunch on
- Adheres to schedule and provides coverage in assigned areas.
Adaptable to changes in work flow.
- Adjusts break and lunch times to ensure appropriate department
coverage for optimal patient care.
- Always follows blood collection policy. Properly collects blood
- Assists in maintaining general cleanliness and safety of work
area to ensures that work area is clean and free of safety
- Can perform venipuncture and capillary (finger & heel) sticks
on infants, children and adults.
- Collects specimens and processes requisitions during computer
downtime per SOP. Uses appropriate downtime procedures.
- Correctly collects, processes/sends, documents and files COC
drug screen, when needed.
- Performs appropriate volume of specimen collection within
specific time frames. Completes work from previous shifts and
assists others as available or needed.
- Prioritizes specimens per SOP. Collects/processes STAT
tests/procedures in timely manner.
- Properly identifies patient/specimens using two forms of I.D.
(Full Name and Medical Record number, DOB, or Account number) on
collection labels to patient's wristband and/or test tube. Properly
uses equipment/supplies and collection techniques.
Qualifications What qualifications you will need:
- Must have phlebotomy certification or 1 year phlebotomy
- Must obtain certification within 1 year from hire.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life
Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification is required.
